You must have an eye for details and color coordination. You must understand shapes and perspective. Know many types and brands of furniture and along with that know what works for kids, adults, elderly, etc. You have to be able to look at a room or house and visualize what the changes will look like and what would work in a particular situation. You have to know something about construction and architecture. Be able to draw and be creative. Listen to the customer. Know materials and costs.
Don’t know where you live so go on line and search for local schools that offer interior design/decoration. Look for how many years they have curriculume cirruculum and how many have graduated and got jobs.
Just starting out of school $22K to $30K but if you are good and establish your own business then you could make $80K but it is a lot of work.
